Giant Alligator Gar Caught in Mississippi Lake
Big news in North Mississippi when a fellow fisherman caught which is believed to me the largest Alligator Gar. Here in South Louisiana growing up we would perch ourselves on the Lake Pontchartrain shore and fish late at night for gar. No one ever ate them but the scales were used like jewels and glued onto things. Some say the earlier settlers here used the scales as arrow heads too. Later on when I began canoeing I would find that fisherman would discard large gars along the sides of bayous. Once I discovered many dead caucuses of gar fish in one spot. Seems a cat-fisherman would find them on his lines and just stack them in one spot on the bank.
As with most of my art I paint, draw, design from my life here in Louisiana and my child hood growing up. Things that stay in my memory like finding that large stach of dead gar cauces on the bayou bank. In honor of the Alligator Gar I did a simple design that actually sells well on the web at Zazzle. " Alligator Gar ("Gator Gar"), Atractosteus spatula, is a primitive ray-finned fish. Unlike other Gars, the mature Alligator Gar possesses a dual row of large teeth in the upper jaw. Its name derives from the alligator-like appearance of these teeth along with the fish's elongated snout. The dorsal surface of the Alligator Gar is a brown or olive-color, while the ventral surface tends to be lighter. Their scales are diamond-shaped and interlocking (ganoid) and are sometimes used by Native Americans for jewelry."

The Foundation claims to have trademark "Jazz Fest", which is a common phrase used for festivals all over the world. I seriously doubt it would hold up in Court. I am not rich enough to file suit. The Foundation has bullied printers, artists, and common folk with notice they will sue for use. Thus ZAZZLE removed any design with the phrase and some with just the words, Jazz and Fest separately. Thus hundreds of my long term designs are no longer for sale there and at other places. I have revised some designs. And will revise more. I think the Foundation is not considering New Orleans heritage with those actions. But the common folk cannot fight back those overly rich folks.

The good thing is you can add text to them, maybe put your name on the case so you know who you are. With the designs I make you most likely will have a one of a kind art design. The above sells the best but here is a list with pictures of most I have available now. I can make one to order too.
