The Axeman of New Orleans Post Cards from @figstreetstudio
The Axeman of New Orleans Post Cards and on shirts too.
In 1919 local tune writer Joseph John Davilla wrote the song "The Mysterious Axman's Jazz (Don't Scare Me Papa)". Published by New Orleans based World's Music Publishing Company, the cover depicted a family playing music with frightened looks on their faces.
The 1945 book Gumbo Ya-Ya, A Collection of Louisiana Folk Tales includes a chapter on the Axeman entitled "Axeman's Jazz", which helped spark renewed interest in the murders. The book also reproduced the cover of the 1919 sheet music.
Writer Julie Smith used a fictionalized version of the Axeman events in her 1991 novel The Axeman's Jazz.
The Axeman killings are also referred to in the short story "Mussolini and the Axeman's Jazz" by Poppy Z. Brite, published in 1997.
The Australian rock band Beasts of Bourbon released an album in 1984 called "The Axeman's Jazz"
In Chuck Palahniuk's 2005 novel Haunted, the Axeman is mentioned in Sister Vigilante's short story.
The 2007 song "Deathjazz" by Las Vegas progressive rock band One Ton Project parallels the story of the Axeman.
In 2010, Rick Geary published The Terrible Axe-Man of New Orleans. The graphic novel is non-fiction and compiles much of the material known about the murderer.
A sentence from the Axeman's letter to The Times-Picayune is spoken at the beginning of Fila Brazillia's song "Tunstall and Californian Haddock."
In 2012, author and former federal agent Chuck Hustmyre's novelized version of the infamous axeman case was published under the title "THE AXMAN OF NEW ORLEANS."
In 2013, the miniseries American Horror Story: Coven features a "mythological creature" based on the Axeman of New Orleans simply named The Axeman.

Copy of My Crawfish Designs
" Imitation is the highest from of flattery" said by Charles Caleb Colton. However I find it distressing I take my time and creativity to do a graphic design or piece of art and someone out and out copies it. Some at least make an effort to change some part of the design others just download it from the web. Usually I mail a cease and desist letter when I find who has done it. Generally they stop as it gets expensive to defend the using of copyright material. Here is another I found on the web from someone selling just about my entire copyrighted graphic design of my "Suck What?" crawfish logo. I am e-mailing them in hopes they no longer copy my art. I have for years found copies of my work. My issue is if you claim to be a creative artist create something of your own, build your own idea, do not just change a little piece of another art and claim it for yourself. Or at the least ask permission to redo the art. Had this person asked me I might have said yes?
PS: After several hours of tracking down this sign that has already been sold months ago but appears on Pinterest over and over on Louisiana pages. The seller kindly contacted me to say they did not know of the copyright. They also said they do not sell signs any longer. I did also found a similar blog post on this blog in 2010 when I discovered other copies of this design on the web. So it should be clear to anyone who sees my art it is copyright. Says so on the art page and over and over in my blog. Each time they claim they did not know. But please if you copy someones art isn't easy to realize it isn't right to sell it as your own without permission.

The Original Real Men Wear Aprons Chef Apron
Real Men Wear Aprons from Fig Street Studio
In the year 2000 I cooked at several restaurants so I designed this apron that sold well among us chefs. As I stopped cooking I just let the design sit on the web and it sells now and then. I did a Google image search for it and discovered many duplicate copies. One the same idea, a chef face and the words Real Men Wear Aprons. I am amazed how many exist now all take offs on my original design. I guess I could take legal action to stop it from happening but the legal fees are very high to do so. I will just let my original design speak for itself and try to let people know that there are copies out there and not the original.

The idea is copyright. When an artist does a graphic design copyright protects it. Several are different but the chef and phrase clearly violates my copyright. At least a few are original take offs of the idea with different type images.
