Little New Orleans Snowman

I added in the Christmas ornaments my painting of the vintage little New Orleans Snowman.

I painted this some time ago to use on Christmas Cards in my New Orleans Christmas card collection. At first I acknowledged the old Maison Blanche "Mr. Bingle" but discovered Dillard's retained the rights to that name. I could no longer describe my painting as such. It is a little snowman in New Orleans culture. Famous on TV when I grew up.

Unique New Orleans Memorabilia

New Orleans art, gifts, shirts, magnets, and stickers as sold throughout the French Quarter available over the web. See http://www.zazzle.com/figstreetstudio*/nola+gifts

Created by local New Orleans Artist JK Schwehm of Fig Street Art Studio. In New Orleans for over half a century. Below are samples of some of the many things created by Fig Street Studio.

Born in the charming Old World city of New Orleans in 1948 Jerry developed his interest in art after watching a PBS program on Jackson Pollock. That inspired him to do his first canvas of colorful lines and blotches that was displayed in his family den for several years. It has since been lost. Over the years he experimented with other media-silk screen, photography, assemblage, but college, military, family, and work concerns took him away from art. After his wife died of cancer, Jerry retired from his law practice to do what he likes, cooking, canoeing, and art. After taking additional art classes he again tried assemblage then began painting his children from photographs. With encouragement from friends, he tried other subjects as well, including adaptations of Gauguin and Van Gogh. Finally, Jerry found his own personal style of painting, using acrylics in a Post-Impressionistic flare of bold colors and wavy lines.
Generally he creates small images on paper but he also produces larger canvases. He prefers painting from photos taken on his travels but also paints portraits on commission. Contact Jerry by e-mail for more information.

Water Meter Style Jazz Fest 2010 T Shirt

Water Meter Style Jazz Fest 2010 T Shirt http://ow.ly/1tIfi

REMOVED

The Foundation claims to have trademark "Jazz Fest", which is a common phrase used for festivals all over the world. I seriously doubt it would hold up in Court. I am not rich enough to file suit. The Foundation has bullied printers, artists, and common folk with notice they will sue for use. Thus ZAZZLE  removed any design with the phrase and some with just the words, Jazz and Fest separately. Thus hundreds of my long term designs are no longer for sale there and at other places. I have revised some designs. And will revise more. I think the Foundation is not considering New Orleans heritage with those actions. But the common folk cannot fight back those overly rich folks.

The Original Fleur De Lid, Water Meter Cover Shirt

The Original Fleur De Lid, Water Meter Cover Shirt- http://ow.ly/19oNa

One of the biggest design elements I have used over the past 18 years or more has been the rusty old water meter lid found in New Orleans. For years growing up it sat content in my front yard, then people began to steal them and we had to get ones that locked. So all of us artists began using it in designs and products basically to give people something to take without leaving a hole in our front yards. I have many different style designs I sell on shirts, magnets, stickers, but this one I like, The Fleur De Lid, or Water Meter Lid in shape of a fleur de lis.

The Blue Crawfish

The big storm displaced plenty people from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Some too far away from when the Saints finally won the Super Bowl. To honor those people who still love our swampy land but are too far away to enjoy all that it offers I created the "Blue Crawfish". I hope that it displays the feelings of all who are displaced but still carry the love of our area in their hearts.

I have this and many other designs at my Cafe Press and Zazzle Shops on the web.
