Get Married in New Orleans City Park
New Orleans City Park’s 1,500 acres offer wedding couples a taste of the city’s historical past in its natural splendor with old oak trees, bayous, bridges, and art. Once the site of Allard Plantation facing Bayou St. John, located at the intersection of Carrollton and City Park Avenues in the Mid-City area of New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina has damaged some areas of the Park and some places have not re-opened. It is best to see the location you want to use in person to determine if it meets your needs. Many intimate spots in City Park are available to do weddings that require no fees. There are also beautiful places in the Park to rent for a large wedding like Pops Fountain and the Botanical Gardens. The City Park Commission should be contacted for rental fees. For a small weekend elopement or before a cruise departing from New Orleans there are other little out of the way places where a small wedding can take place, lovely walkways, large oak trees, fountains, small bridges, and statues. Most open public places are free for a small simple wedding but are first come first serve, therefore selecting alternate spots in the Park is recommended. There are several small bridges over the bayous or lagoons that can be used or under one of the many large old oak trees. By arriving early and walking through the area the couple and a small wedding party can choose a nice location to do a short ceremony. If you desire a larger wedding and a reserved spot you can contact City Park at their web page or call them.

New Orleans Marriage License Information
It is possible to be married on the same day you get your license. Either the bride or groom before may obtain the license from the State Office of Vital Records at 1010 Common St, New Orleans, or other Parish Clerks of Court offices before the ceremony is conducted. The New Orleans Office is open on Saturday. Identification is required along with authentic copies of birth certificates and any divorce judgments. In some cities there is a three-day waiting period. In New Orleans a Minister or Judge can waive the waiting period in writing for non-residents when good reasons exist. No medical tests are necessary. The license is good for 30 days. You must present the license to the person doing the ceremony in advance as it requires the officiant to complete some portions in black ink only. A ceremony must be conducted before 2 adult witnesses who also sign the certificates. The cost of the license is just under $30.00 paid to the State. Another close to the French Quarter the Second City Court at 225 Morgan Street on the west bank in New Orleans. It is a nice ferry ride across the Mississippi River (pedestrians ride for free, automobiles only $1.00) from the Canal Street Ferry Landing,by River Wall MAll. It is a half city block to the court building with a clock tower. This office closes at 3:00PM, so arrive no later than 2:15PM. Phone number is (504) 368-4099 to verify times.

French Quarter Black Smith Shop with Le Chat Noir
I've sketched, painted, took pictures of the Old Black Smith Shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans I think I can draw it with my eyes closed. So I did another but added in the black cat I have been sticking in everything I do. Initially I adopted a little blue cat Gauguin also used in many of his paintings and a nick name of mine was Bluecat. I abandoned it after a while as it did not add anything to the painting, so did Gauguin. Then I adopted the Le Chat Noir and it fits better into what I do right now, so I put the cat back in some of my art.
Someone at Zazzle likes my art as this poster in the original without the black cat, also won the days best award for March 7,2010. I like the one with the cat best though.

New Orleans Street Signs
Someone asked I make up 10 different street signs so they could use them as table center pieces for a sit down dinner. Each guest assigned to a table bearing a New Orleans Street name. So I devised a postcard front and back that the buyer can edit into it the street name or family name they want on the card. The card then can be placed in a little holder on the center of the table. This way buyers can choose and change the street name they want without me having to do them over and over. Personalized street signs for decorations and only about $1.00 each. Easy yet unique way to dress up a dinner party.

How I Make The French Quarter Tile Murals
People ask about my replica tile murals found in the New Orleans French Quarter and how they are made. It is a long process. The originals are Spanish tiles given to the city of New Orleans in 1962. Some are falling apart. As the designs are public many artists take pictures of them and frame them for sale. I felt making a replica in ceramic tile was a neat idea. First I began by taking many pictures of several of the murals and bringing them to my studio where I could clean them up taking out pealed spots and blemishes. Using a photo software I fixed the colors and added my studio name at the bottom. The end result is a nice image I copyright as it took a lot of work to make those images and are not the originals but replicas. From there I have to properly size the image and cut it into small squares to fit on tiles. This is difficult and takes a lot of time to get the detail so it fits properly together. The smaller individual images are then fitted to special tiles that are made with a special risen and the images heat set at high temperature to make an individual tile. The several tiles then are fitted together to make a mural.
On occasion I am also asked to personalize the design with a name or street address which follows the same process above. If you have a request e-mail it to admin@figstreet.com and I may be able to make it for you. Personalized murals take time to create and a deposit to begin work is required. Ceramic murals can be in several sizes but will take time to create. I need what you desire to be changed on the original, I can do a sketch first for approval before tiles are made. The sketch requires a deposit. Pay Pal is available for deposits.
Currently I have available Rue Chartres, Rue Borbon, Rue Orleans, and Place D"Arms. I can do the other street names using the same process but first would need to go fetch photographs of them to start the process.
